Festival Coach Tour: the Dark Ages of Yorkshire 10:00

The Festival fleet has landed in Coppergate Square! Meet its commander and hear him recite ancient poems. Experience a variety of activities that explore Viking life on water and on dry land.

The results of 10 years work looking for the forgotten battle of 1066 will be published today. There will be an exhibition of the battlefield finds. Chas Jones will give a talk about the archaeological work, followed by a short walk around the site of the battle. The morning route is suitable for children and wheelchairs. In the afternoon there will be a longer walk and walking boots are recommended. Books on sale.
